Press conference

“We have possibilities and we’ll continue to exploit them to the fullest”

Malaguista coach, Víctor Sánchez del Amo appeared in the press room at the Ramón de Carranza following #CádizMálaga. “I don’t believe our players committed triple the number of fouls than the rival”, he stated.

Initiative

“In the end, we’ll count the points on the final matchday. We came here with the intention of winning. We knew it would be a tough match against Cádiz, who have had a good run recently and are also fighting for promotion, here at their ground in front of their fans. From the outset the players showed they were intent on victory and tried to take the initiative from Cádiz at their ground”.

Interruptions

“We saw a very even match, with a lot of possession on our part, which allowed us to prevent Cádiz dominating. However, despite this dominance of possession, we weren’t able to convert the many clear chances we had to score. I think it’s for a very clear reason. There were continual interruptions and so many fouls, but I don’t believe our players committed triple the number of fouls as the rival, I don’t have that perception of play. Nevertheless, that’s what happened, and it did us a great deal of damage. We weren’t able to have that continuity during gameplay, and a number of fouls went against us. We were given three times the number of fouls as the rival”.

Goals

“It was a shame that we took an early lead but couldn’t maintain it. However, we were very good in set pieces. In addition, their goal came from one of the numerous fouls that went against us, and that was the final result”.

No ‘buts’

“There can be no ‘buts’ surrounding our players, they tried their best and worked hard in a very difficult game, faced with a rival with a fast and dangerous counter-attack that we knew how to control. It was only in risky situations with the ball when we got a little confused, they tried to take advantage, but didn’t manage to”.

La Rosaleda, key

We have possibilities and we’ll continue to exploit them to the fullest. With home games coming up, what could be better than having our fans’ support in this final stage of the competition”?
