Villanueva del Rosario, present in Burgos

Málaga Club de Fútbol continues to represent towns and municipalities from the province in every match, through artist José Luis Puche. On this occasion, the captain's armband is inspired by the Ruta de las Cuevas in Villanueva del Rosario.

The Blue and Whites will play LaLiga Hypermotion matchday 19 this Sunday at 16:15 at El Plantío against Burgos CF. Villanueva del Rosario will be the focal point on the armband worn by the Malaguista captain during the match.

Villanueva del Rosario is a beautiful inland village in Málaga, located at the foot of the Sierra de Camarolos and El Jobo. It is known for its natural beauty, deep-rooted traditions, and welcoming rural atmosphere.

Its rich cultural heritage is reflected in celebrations and traditions such as the Romería de la Virgen del Rosario, the town's patron saint. Semana Santa is another event filled with devotion and tradition, featuring beautifully adorned processions of floats accompanied by musical bands that attract both locals and visitors. The Día de la Cruz, celebrated in May, is a popular festivity where residents decorate crosses with flowers. San Isidro Labrador is the main figure in the town's patronal celebrations.

Regarding cuisine, some of the standout dishes from Villanueva del Rosario include gazpacho and the popular porra antequerana, a thicker variant of gazpacho with a delicious, rosy texture. Also notable is chivo malagueño, tender goat meat cooked in various ways, and migas, a comforting dish that reflects the region's rural roots. For sweets, roscos de vino and pestiños add a festive touch, especially during the Christmas season.

Furthermore, Villanueva del Rosario boasts numerous attractions that delight its visitors. The Iglesia de Nuestra Señora del Rosario, a simple yet historic temple, holds deep significance for the locals. In the natural surroundings, the Sierra de Camarolos stands out for its hiking trails, as well as the source of the Guadalmedina River, an idyllic spot where crystal-clear waters emerge, offering a unique and breathtaking beauty.

Its traditions, cuisine, and culture make Villanueva del Rosario a place worthy of being visited and discovered. Both on the #BurgosCFMálaga match poster and the armband worn by our captain at El Plantío, José Luis Puche uses his innate talent to recreate an image of the Ruta de las Cuevas, one of the most sought-after trails in the province, ideal for caving enthusiasts due to the uniqueness of its caves. The area is home to native flora and fauna, where it’s common to see striking species such as wild goats in their natural habitat.
