Equality prevailed in the early stages. The Blue and Whites attempted to command the rhythm of play at home, with both sides fighting hard for possession under scattered showers.
Both teams shared possession and approaches until Málaga took the lead after 26 minutes. Pamela picked up a ball from the edge of the area, and with a shot towards the post managed to surpass the rival keeper with a superb goal (1-0).
Misa sent out a warning in 38’ with a powerful shot towards the goal, but the keeper prevented the home side increasing their lead.
Five minutes later, the Blue and Whites doubled their advantage with what was a strange lead-up to the goal. Again, a corner followed by numerous clearances led to Misa trying her luck with a shot at goal, the ball bouncing off a Sevilla defender and little by little ending up in the back of the net (2-0). The scoreboard remained the same at half-time.
In the second half, the locals tried to control the game whilst the rivals were determined to get on the scoreboard. Play was focused in the wide area and things became more equal. In 67’, Sevilla’s Toni pulled one back, overcoming Chelsea (2-1).
The Blue and Whites tempered the remainder of the match, and although the visitors generated a few opportunities, the locals controlled play. To the relief of the crowd, Celia scored the 3-1 in stoppage time. As the Canaries-born player propelled the ball towards the target, it slipped out of the keeper’s hands to find the net. The striker’s first goal allowed the Malaguistas to claim all three points from the Andalusian derby.
