Victory in Benahavís (1-0)

Málaga CF defeated UD Melilla by 1-0 (Hicham, 15’) in a friendly fixture that left good sensations for the Blue and Whites.

Málaga and Melilla faced one another this Wednesday in the idyllic setting of Benahavís. For this match, the Blue and Whites debuted the newly presented third jersey in a fuchsia pink colour. The Costa del Sol municipality is one of the sponsors that features on the shirt, at the back, and a commemorative jersey was presented to the local town hall.

Equality prevailed during the initial stages of play. Both sides shared possession of the ball in midfield, although as time went on, the Malaguista squad began to gain control of the pace of play.

In the 15th minute Víctor Sánchez del Amo’s men took the lead thanks to a goal from Hicham stemming from a superb Okazaki assist. The Japanese player found a gap in the Melilla defence to deliver a great pass to the homegrown Blue and White player in the heart of the area, who surpassed the rival keeper with good definition. The result remained the same at half-time.

In the second half the Malaguistas continued to dominate the match and their presence in the attacking half intensified. The local coach introduced 10 substitutions in this half, but the tone of the game stayed the same. Adrián narrowly missed out on two attempts, as did Keidi, but the scoreboard didn’t move and the Blue and Whites sealed the 1-0 victory.
