Victory at El Collao (0-3)

Málaga CF enjoyed a big win away from home against CD Alcoyano on Primera RFEF matchday 25 with goals from Genaro, Dani Lorenzo and David Ferreiro.

This Saturday 24th February Málaga CF visited CD Alcoyano on a cold winter afternoon. Some 3,000 spectators gathered at El Collao, among whom were around 300 Malaguistas, for this Primera RFEF matchday 25 fixture.

Sergio Pellicer selected the following starting-11: Herrero; Jokin, Moussa, Nelson, Einar, Víctor; Genaro, Manu Molina, Ferreiro, Dani Lorenzo and Dioni.

The match got off to an electric start. The Blue and Whites (in lime and yellow on this occasion) took the lead in the 3rd minute of play. Jokin served a throw-in in the heart of the area, with the defence failing to clear the ball, and an unmarked Genaro finished at will from the penalty spot (0-1, 3').

After the goal, the locals stepped up their attack on the Malaguista goal. José Lara sent out a very serious warning with an attempt that hit the crossbar in the 5th minute of play.

After numerous attacking actions by the home side without a result, it was MCF who increased their lead in the 14th minute. Dani Lorenzo featured in a great personal play starting from the 3/4 area. After an uncontrollable slalom, the number '22' got the goal with a precise and powerful shot at the near post (0-2, 14').

Pellicer's team took control of the ball after the second goal and kept their rival at bay in the first 45 minutes. Local player José Lara saw the second yellow card, and therefore was sent off after 41 minutes due to a scuffle with Genaro. At half-time the scoreboard remained at 0-2.

Pellicer introduced two changes at the start of the second half, bringing on Juande and Izan Merino for Nelson and Genaro.

CD Alcoyano started the second half with the firm intention of closing the gap and advanced lines with a strong attacking display.

However, despite the local insistence, the Malaguista defence successfully managed to keep a clean sheet.

In the 67th minute of play, the referee awarded a penalty for Izan's foul on Farru. Selma was in charge of taking the penalty but missed and the ball sailed over the crossbar.

Immediately afterwards, Sergio Pellicer made the third substitution, bringing on Javier Avilés for Dioni.

Minutes later Málaga CF increased their lead again. Dani Lorenzo reached the baseline after receiving a throw-in from Gabilondo and, out of the corner of his eye, saw David Ferreiro unmarked in the area. The shot by the number '7' was propelled into the back of the net (0-3, 74').

In the 79th minute, David Larrubia and Juan Hernández entered the match, replacing goal-scorers David Ferreiro and Dani Lorenzo.

One of the newcomers, Juan Hernández, could have scored the fourth but his shot sailed past the post.

There were no more movements on the scoreboard and the match ended with an indisputable Malaguista victory, reaching 48 points.

The next league match is on Sunday 3rd March at 12:00 against UD Ibiza in La Rosaleda.
