A match that followed the script
“The match progressed in the most predictable way. Cádiz waiting to go out on a counter-attack and conceding ball possession, the first half followed that script, as did the second. The difference is that in the first half we had the difficulty of moving at speed and finding good spaces, and when we got close to the area, we didn’t have the clarity to make good shots. Cádiz, basically, did what they do, they awaited the counter-attack, as they did with the goal, resulting from a counter where they had the fortune of finding a dead ball on the line and scored. It was unlucky for us. We’re not only missing out on good luck in terms of goal, but in these actions too”.
Good fortune not going our way
“In the second half we tried to improve our attacking possibilities with the introduction of Cifu, running the risk of injury as he’s been suffering discomfort, which determined the decision in the starting line-up. However, when you’re losing, you need to take risks. The second half was totally different, with far more arrivals, more danger, with very clear opportunities. We were unlucky that we missed out on goals by very little; Antoñín’s action, Keko hitting the post, the final double from Renato and Keko again… then the rival scored a goal from another counter, coming from a hand ball that I’m keen to see again, then it was the final whistle and that was that. That’s the difference, effectiveness makes the difference in matches”.
Follow the same path
“There are no buts in terms of the players in regard to commitment, determination, level of fight and trying until the end. Their heads should be held high and we must keep insisting as in the end this will change. We must insist and have faith as by following this same path this run has to change so we can get the winning results”.
