Víctor: “It’s a match to allow us to move up positions”

The Málaga CF coach held a press conference in the run-up to #MálagaTenerife: “The change of coach can affect the system of play and the names of the players”.

Motivation: Climb positions

“Every match is important. Obviously, the immediate one occupies all our attention which is why we can qualify it as the most important. We’ll give the same level of importance to the next game. We’ll focus all our attention on the upcoming match. For us it is a game that provides us with the opportunity to move past a team that is ahead of us in the rankings, which is sufficient motivation and highlights its importance. It allows us to move up positions in the table, which is our idea, and our objective is to make our fans happy”.

CD Tenerife

“We’re facing a team that has had a change of coach this week, which leaves us with a degree of uncertainty in regard to the options of play. However, we don’t expect there’ll be a huge change as there’s not enough time in a week, but it can affect the system of play and the names of the players. Our line of work is very clear, we need to focus on our own mechanisms and give continuity to the work of our players who are becoming increasingly more solid and reliable both in attack and defence. We need to be able to improve our finishing technique, improve at home and try to increase our percentage of success to move closer to our rivals in this aspect. By improving these features we’ll be closer to victory. This is the main focus of this match; giving a lot of importance to our players and seeing the different options Tenerife may come with so we can be prepared”.

Fans

“The season hasn’t been straightforward. We are realistic within the group, as are the fans. Everyone who stops me on the street conveys the same message of support and encouragement. The same support we see inside the stadium, which is a very important indication of the quality of our fans. In recent weeks I’ve been asked about the number of fans in the stands, which I think is important to clarify. We feel the fans’ support through the good and bad times. Since we arrived here, we’ve seen countless examples of the Málaga fans being 10 out of 10. They are showing us week after week at La Rosaleda that despite not achieving winning results, which is penalising us, they continue to support us. For that we must applaud them. Our fans’ support is indisputable, which is why we want to win matches as it’s the best way to make our supporters happy”.
