Vicente Casado is named as Málaga CF’s new General Manager

Málaga Club de Fútbol’s former Business Development Manager, Vicente Casado Salgado, has now been named as General Manager of the Club.

Casado arrived at the Martiricos Club a year ago, from his post as CEO of the Mutua Madrid Tennis Open.  He will also be the deputy manager of Business Development at the Club.

Forty-one year old Vicente Casado Salgado has a degree in Industrial Psychology from the University of Paris, and specialises in sport management, planning and marketing.  His professional career began in ‘Action Michel Platini’, where he was responsible for training within the Foundation of the current UEFA president.  When the World Cup came to France in 1998, Casado was named Head of ‘Le Tour de France du Sport Populaire’ project, which was a great success in bringing the World Cup phenomenon to major cities throughout France.

The son of Spanish immigrants, Vicente Casado Salgado moved to Spain in 2002, to become involved in the Masters Series in Madrid.  This was the first edition of this indoor tournament.  In February 2005, the new General Manager of Málaga Club de Fútbol joined the Royal Spanish Football Federation, where he formed their first Sales and Marketing department.  Whilst still working with ‘La Roja’, Casado joined ‘Grupo Santa Mónica’ as Sales Manager, though he left in 2009 to return to the Mutua Madrid Open, which became the fifth most important tournament in the world alongside the Sony Ericsson Miami Open, only behind the Grand Slams.

Throughout his entire professional career, Vicente Casado has had a close relationship with training and development within programmes organised by UEFA and FIFA in Nyon and Zurich respectively.  He also taught the MBA marketing module of Real Madrid in the European University in the city, as well as the Valle de Mexico and Sao Paulo universities.
