Sergio Pellicer and Ibon Navarro, coaches of Málaga CF and Unicaja Baloncesto, gave a master class at La Rosaleda for the students of the III Master’s in Sports Entities Management and Marketing.
Málaga Club de Fútbol and the University of Málaga continue to provide the Master's in Sports Entities Management and Marketing with top professionals for the training of their students. This afternoon, 25th February, Sergio Pellicer and Ibon Navarro delivered a masterclass in the ‘Juan Cortés’ press room at La Rosaleda, sharing their experiences and knowledge at the highest level of sports.
Sergio Pellicer will reach 158 matches as Málaga CF's head coach next Saturday 1st March during Almería-Málaga, equalling Juan Ramón López Muñiz as the club’s second coach with the most games managed, only behind Joaquín Peiró (224).
Last season, his work was crucial in securing promotion to LaLiga Hypermotion, earning him the award for Best Coach of Group 2 in the Primera RFEF at the 11th edition of the Ramón Cobo Awards and the Coaches' Association. A very special recognition.
Meanwhile, Ibon Navarro was crowned champion of the ACB Cup on 16th February in the Canary Islands after defeating Real Madrid. Following the Intercontinental Cup in Singapore and the Endesa Super Cup in Murcia, the Unicaja team has achieved a historic treble in the current 2024-25 season, which is still ongoing. In the past, the coach also won the 2023 Copa del Rey and the 2024 BCL, bringing his total trophies in Málaga to five.
Both coaches shared their experience and knowledge in a class on elite sports management, offering first-hand insight into the reality of two top-level professional teams from a coach’s perspective.
