Málaga CF defeated CD Tenerife at La Rosaleda on LALIGA HYPERMOTION matchday 28. A goal from Dani Sánchez secured a hard-earned victory for the Blue and Whites.
There was a great atmosphere in the stands of Martiricos for a Friday night clash that kicked off this league matchday. On the pitch, Pellicer made changes across all lines compared to the match in Cartagena, except for the goalkeeper position. Puga and Nelson Monte replaced Gabilondo and Murillo in defence; captain Ramón took the central pivot role instead of Manu Molina; and Kevin and Baturina came in for Dioni and Chupe in attacking positions.
The match remained fairly balanced until midway through the first half, when Málaga took control of the game and created a double chance in 24’. First, Carlos Puga sent in a cross that Dani Sánchez headed, forcing a save from Badía to concede a corner; then, off the corner, Izan Merino fired a shot just wide of the right post.
Tenerife, with the unmistakable style of Álvaro Cervera, stuck to their game plan, staying compact defensively and waiting for an opportunity to exploit any gaps in the solid Málaga defence. Dangerous plays in both boxes were rare, except for a possible penalty not called on Lobete right at the 45' mark. The first half ended in a goalless draw.
In the second half, Málaga CF found the goal through a well-executed set-piece. Ramón delivered a calm, low ball into the box, and Dani Sánchez struck with his left foot, sending the ball into the net (1-0, 53’). It was the first official goal for the Málaga left-back wearing the Blue and White shirt.
In 66’, Pellicer made a double substitution: Ramón and Kevin were replaced by Luismi and Manu Molina. The team, driven by the crowd, pushed for a second goal to extend their lead. Tenerife, now forced to push forward, left more space at the back. In 76’, Izan Merino won a penalty, but Baturina’s attempt was saved by Edgar Badía.
Dioni and Ochoa replaced Baturina and Larrubia in 80’. In the final stretch, the fifth and last substitution for Málaga: Antoñito came on for Lobete in 85’. In the closing minutes, Tenerife tried to break down Alfonso Herrero’s goal, but with more heart than quality. However, they couldn’t find the net, and the 1-0 scoreline secured all three points for Málaga CF.
After 28 LALIGA HYPERMOTION games, the team is temporarily in 9th place in the standings with 38 points, following their second consecutive win. Vamos, Málaga!
