Tribute to historic Club Atlético Malagueño

The Málaga CF Foundation paid a well-deserved tribute to Club Atlético Malagueño, which during the 92-93 and 93-94 seasons represented the city as the first football team.

La Rosaleda stadium enjoyed a magical afternoon yesterday. Players, coaches and directors from the historic Club Atlético Malagueño gathered at La Rosaleda stadium to commemorate the silver anniversary of the memorable promotion to Second Division B by a group of home players. Malagueños who returned the excitement of football and the love of these colours to the fans.

Acting as master of ceremonies at the event was former Blue and Whites’ player and current representative of the MCF Foundation’s Social Department, Sebastián Fernández Reyes ‘Basti’. A Malaguista legend who played for Club Atlético Malagueño and who was, together with Francisco Javier López Bravo, the only player to defend the Blue and White colours in all categories of Spanish football, from the Third to the First Division.

The protagonists of that feat 25 years ago posed for a photograph on the pitch. After the photo, the guests inaugurated a new display showcase in the MCF Museum&Tour dedicated to the Málaga first team a quarter of a century ago. Later on, they took part in a chat in the ‘Juan Cortés’ press room at La Rosaleda stadium and enjoyed a meal in the authorities’ box.
