Three points come home from Los Cármenes (0-2)

Victory for Málaga CF against Recreativo Granada on Primera Federación matchday 21. Nearly 5,000 Malaguistas turned the stands Blue and White and cheered the goals of Dioni (32') and Roberto (56').

Málaga CF and Recreativo Granada met this Saturday 27th January at 16:00 at Los Cármenes on a sunny afternoon. Thanks to Granada CF, which enabled their entire Preferencia stand for the Malaguista fans, some 5,000 Blue and White supporters were at the game.

The Blue and White starting-11 was made up of: A. Herrero; Jokin, Juande, Nelson, Einar, Víctor; Manu Molina, Dani Lorenzo, Aaron Ochoa; Dioni and Roberto.

Granada’s reserve team took to the pitch with the firm intention of taking the lead, but the Malaguista defence resolutely resolved the home side's initial attempts.

The Blue and White team, wearing lime and yellow on this occasion, opened the scoring with a great goal from Dioni. Víctor sent a precise cross from the left that he headed into the goal in minute 17, with the shot unreachable for rival goalkeeper Pol Tristán (0-1, 17').

The goal shook up the match and Málaga CF increased their approaches to the rival area. Roberto found himself in front of the goalkeeper in the 35th minute, but Tristán effectively blocked the shot. Then in minute 40, Víctor gave a good short ball to Aaron who, from the baseline, crossed into the heart of the area looking for Roberto. A header from the number ‘19’ came out a few centimetres from the far post. At half-time the scoreboard remained 0-1.

MCF got another goal in the 57th minute, in a magnificent counter-attacking play. Aaron Ochoa found Einar in midfield, who filtered a ball behind the defence that Dani Lorenzo collected inside the area. The number ‘22’ looked to his left and saw Roberto who found the net (0-2, 57').

Only a minute later, in 58’, Aaron Ochoa left the field of play to make way for David Ferreiro, making his official debut as a Malaguista player.

The home team sought to narrow the gap in a vertical attacking action that ended with Ibarrondo entering the Malaguista area unmarked. However, Alfonso Herrero stopped the striker’s shot to maintain the advantage.

Málaga CF tried to control the final stretch of play and secure the win. With 15 minutes to go, Genaro headed a great pass from Víctor towards the goal, but Pol Tristán stopped the attempt. Dioni scored on the rebound, but the referee disallowed the Malaga striker's goal for being offside.

Málaga CF won 0-2 to sit in third place in the standings ahead of Córdoba CF's match this afternoon. Next week, Atlético Baleares visit La Rosaleda on Primera Federación matchday 22.
