The youngest team in the MCF Academy is tied at the top of the category, and remains undefeated with a run of eight victories. In April, they are taking part in the prestigious ‘Mundialito’ tournament.
Málaga CF’s Prebenjamín team competes in Group V of the 3rd División Andaluza in the category. With 24 points, they are tied at the top with CD Conejito de Málaga, although they are a game ahead of the Malaguista team.
The young Blue and Whites’ players compete locally at ‘El Duende’ municipal ground, located in San Andrés. The Malaguistas, coached by José Luis López and Carlos Ramírez, have won all of their League games (8), having accumulated 74 goals and conceded 10. López explains how his team works: “They always go out to win, but we are based on two main aspects: good behaviour and excellence in gameplay”.
In April, coinciding with Easter, the team is heading to Tarragona to take part in one of the most prestigious grassroots football tournaments, the ‘Mundialito’. Fighting for this title are 300 teams from all over the globe, amongst them are internationally-renowned clubs including: Atlético de Madrid, FC Barcelona, Bayern Munich, Juventus and Liverpool FC. “It’s the most important tournament we’re taking part in this year, we’re all incredibly excited and eager to do well”, affirms the coach.
Málaga CF’s Alevín team is the reigning champion of the ‘Mundialito’ in their category, and a squad for the Prebenjamínes to look up to: “They are an example to us, we always look up to teams within the MCF Academy”, explainsJosé Luis López.
