Málaga CF ends the first round of the 2016/17 season with the team’s best records at La Rosaleda, scoring 17 goals and achieving five victories, with up to seven homegrown players amongst the line-ups.
Undefeated for nearly four months at La Rosaleda
The team has shown great strength at their home ground, remaining undefeated since 20th September 2016 until 16th January 2017.
Record of consecutive home wins
The winning streak at Martiricos matches the Club’s best record, achieved during the Pellegrini era, in the2011/12 campaign. A total of five consecutive victories, against Eibar, Athletic, Leganés, Sporting and Deportivo.
Málaga – King of the comebacks
The team has fought until the end and claimed many points in the ‘Cesarini zone’.MCF has come from behind in four out of five League games. In addition, in the 3-2 against Sporting de Gijón (see image gallery here), they made two comebacks in the same match (coming back from a 0-1 and a 1-2).
Goal-scoring at Martiricos
17 goals in nine matches held at La Rosaleda, giving an average of nearly two goals per game (1’88). Sandro, who scored five goals consecutively in each one of the five home wins, is the team’s ‘pichichi’ with a total of seven goals.
Youth and Academy, divine treasures
The Academy has greatly nourished the first team in this first round of competition. The presence of homegrown players in training sessions is immense, with 10 different players included in the line-ups this season, and seven in LaLiga and Cup games. In addition, 15 members of the team are aged between 19 and 25!
