The Master’s Degree in Sports Management is underway
The Master's Degree in Permanent Training in Management and Marketing of Sports Entities of Málaga CF and the University of Málaga kicked off on Monday afternoon, with its opening ceremony at the Faculty of Commerce and Management.
The day has arrived. This Monday 18th October at 18:00, the Master's Degree in Permanent Training in Management and Marketing of Sports Entities of Málaga CF and the University of Málaga got underway, which will continue over the next year, with 26 students.
The inauguration took place at the Faculty of Commerce and Management, one of the locations of this postgraduate degree course, next to La Rosaleda Stadium.
Both the Club and the UMA were present at the opening ceremony, as well as a large group of teachers and students from the course.
On behalf of Málaga CF was judicial administrator, José María Muñoz and Ana Vera, as deputy director of the Master’s Degree, sat at the speakers' table. Representing the university were the Vice-Rector for Studies, Ernesto Pimentel; deputy vice-rector for Permanent Education, Pilar Alarcón; and the dean of the Faculty of Commerce and Management, Benjamín del Alcázar.
The event was opened by Ernesto Pimentel, Vice Chancellor of Studies at the UMA. Then, Ana Vera, deputy director of the Master’s Degree and head of Málaga CF’s Institutional Relations department, introduced the speaker of the inaugural lesson, Blue and White coach Pepe Mel. The coach offered a conference dedicated to coaching management.
Subsequently, Pilar Alarcón, deputy vice-rector for Permanent Education at the UMA and host of the event, gave way to Daniel Ruiz, academic director of the Master's Degree, to talk about the enrolment results.
José María Muñoz, Málaga CF’s judicial administrator, was next up, just before a speech by Benjamín del Alcázar, dean of the Faculty of Commerce and Management.
“We’re extremely pleased with this alliance, with this partnership that we have created with Málaga CF, to develop an innovative postgraduate program in the management of sports entities,” said an enthusiastic Benjamín del Alcázar.
The Master's Degree in Permanent Training in Management and Marketing of Sports Entities consists of six modules: Strategic Management, Financial Management, Technical and Human Management, Strategic Marketing, Digital Marketing and Communication, and Marketing and Development of Lines of Business.
The degree will be completed with 140 hours of internships within businesses and magnificent professional opportunities.
One of the Master's Degree teachers, Jorge Manrique, who will teach the ‘Compliance and good governance' topic within the first module, stated that “sport is also a business, with business structures that need professional management.”
Johanne, a student of the new postgraduate course, studied Business Administration and Law, and she enrolled as “I felt that I needed something more to specialise in, and I really like the field of sports.” Another of the students, Rafael, is immersed in the development of an eSports club, and is certain that “with this Master's Degree I will become professional. I’m surrounding myself with important people in their respective areas. I've taken the first step and you have to have the right training to be able to coordinate it in the best way.”
The inaugural event concluded with a group photo and a cocktail for the attendees.
Over the next year, this postgraduate degree will take place, thanks to the alliance between Málaga CF and the UMA, featuring professionals from well-renowned companies in the world of sports management.
