The comeback of a leader (1-2)

Málaga Femenino defeated CD Badajoz Femenino on matchday 12 of Group 4 Primera Nacional. An away win featuring a comeback in the final stages to strengthen their place at the top of the table.

An afternoon of great expectation at the San Roque ground in Badajoz, with a great crowd to watch the top two teams in the standings fight it out. On the pitch, Ayala selected the following starting-11: María Arrabal in goal; Encarni, team captain Ruth, Silvia Mérida and Marina in defence; Lorena, María Cortés, Teté and Farfán in midfield; Claudia and Carmen Gómez on the attack.

The first half was very even between both sides, alternating dominance and few occasions in the areas. In the second half, Ayala made three substitutions, two of them proving to be key to the final score. Torralvo for Claudia (46’), Bertuchi for Lorena (61’) and Futu for Carmen Gómez (70’) were the three changes.

In minute 75 of play, the storm was unleashed. Local player Idaira was sent off leaving Badajoz down to 10 women. However, recently incorporated Ainhoa opened the scoring shortly afterwards, putting the Black and Whites 1-0 up (83’).

However, this MCFF has soul, faith and always fights to the death for everything. In the 86th minute, Sonia Torralvo scored her 12th goal of the League season to take the game level at 1-1. Then, like last week, just before the final whistle, the comeback goal came, the winning work of Futu (1-2, 93’). Incredible.

Málaga CF increase their lead over CD Badajoz by seven points, having obtained 34 out of a possible 36 points so far this season. The undisputed leader. Next week, the last league game of 2021 will take place at home against CF Femenino Cáceres Atlético.
