The 2ª Benjamín, Copa RFAF champions

The Andalusian championship title went to the 2ª Benjamín after defeating Sevilla FC in the final by 5-2. Another four tournaments took place over the weekend, with third place obtained in both the Tomir Cup and Ris Cup.

There’s no rest for the 7-a-side football teams. After their domestic competitions came to an end a few weeks ago, they have been in action throughout Spain and overseas. On this occasion, four teams took part in tournaments in Spain and another in France.

Copa Federación - Benjamín 2009

An unbeatable way to end the season, being proclaimed champions of Andalucía. On Saturday, Málaga CF qualified to the final with a win against Real Betis Balompié by 3-1. On Sunday, in a match that decided the best Benjamín team in Andalucía, our boys defeated Sevilla FC by 5-2.

Tomir Cup - Alevín 2007

The Alevín team claimed the bronze medal in this tournament held in Caravaca de la Cruz. Málaga CF reached the top spot of the group, beating Playas SJB, Elche, Albacete, Torre Pacheco and C. Media, and drawing with Ranero, thereby reaching the semi-finals. The rival in this round was CA Osasuna. Following a 1-1 draw, Osasuna won on penalties. In the third-place decider, the Blue and Whites defeated Murcia Promesas on penalties.

Ris Cup - Alevín 2008

Added to the experience of travelling to Paris, the Alevín 2008 team obtained a great third place. Undefeated in the first group stage, they advanced to the second, drawing with Oporto FC, and beating Evry and Sporting de Portugal. In the quarter-finals they narrowly defeated Montpellier, and in the semis, only a penalty shoot-out prevented Málaga from reaching the grand final. After a 2-2 draw with Genk, the Belgian side went on to win on penalties. In the fight for third place, the Blue and Whites beat Caen by 1-0.

Azpeitia Cup - Alevín 2008

The Alevín 2008 didn’t manage to surpass the second group stage of this tournament, despite doing a fantastic job. In the first phase they defeated Primer Toque FC, Rayo Vallecano and Sonseca and lost out to Real Celta de Vigo. With the points accumulated they reached the second group stage, paired with Atlético de Madrid, FC Porto and FC Barcelona, but didn’t score any further points despite competing well and coming close to a tie in the latter two games.

Levante Cup - Benjamín 2010

Despite Málaga taking part in this tournament with Benjamínes born in 2010, in the Levante Cup they competed against boys a year older. In the group stage they defeated Sangonera and La Unidad and drew with San José and Lorca. In the round of 16, Granada made the most of their age advantage and defeated our Blue and Whites by 3-1.
