First team
Tenerife, kilometre 23

Another point on this Malaguista marathon on the return, after 10 years, to Tenerife. A minute’s silence was observed before kick-off in memory of Julen.

These are some of the highlights of #TenerifeMálaga from last Saturday that ended in a goalless draw (0-0):

Changes without change

Muñiz has been using a flexible 4-4-3 formation, according to the team defending or attacking, complementing the usual 4-4-2 used in a large part of the competition. At the Heliodoro changes were made, with a superb Diego González in defence and an active Pacheco on the left profile of the attack, featuring in the starting-11. However, beyond systems and players, as always, the seal of a solid team took precedence.

Good moment away from home

Málaga have accumulated four away games without defeat, two victories and two draws. Also, in the last three games, the boys kept a clean sheet. The Blue and Whites are, with the numbers in hand, the third best team of the competition away from home with 16 points. Only Granada (19) and Albacete (18) have scored more away points so far this season.

Invictus Muñiz

Every time the coach from Asturias visits the Rodríguez López he obtains a positive result. He’s visited five times whilst at the helm of MCF (4 in the League – one in the First Division – ending in 1 win and 3 draws, and 1 Cup win) as well as a victory with Alcorcón and a draw with Levante. That’s a total of seven matches played in Tenerife, with 3 victories and 4 draws.

Keidi, a young veteran

The Albanian defensive pivot is consolidating his place in the starting line-up naturally. A reserve team player with a strong personality and great leadership skills, despite his age, whose hard work in the wide area favours the collective work of the team. His third consecutive time in the starting-11 after playing against Zaragoza and against Lugo at home.

11 out of 23 with a ‘0’

Almost half of Málaga CF’s matches, in LaLiga 1|2|3, have ended in ‘0’ on the scoreboard for the Blue and Whites’ rival. In 11 out of 23 games (47.8%) nine with Munir in goal and two with Kieszek, Málaga maintained a clean sheet. With a total of 17 goals conceded, only Granada CF have conceded fewer goals in the league competition (15).
