Javi Ramos made his debut in the Malaguista dugout on matchday 5 of Group Sur D in the Reto Iberdrola, in the match against CD Femarguín at the Polideportivo Municipal de Cártama. The new coach opted for a 1-3-5-2 formation. Lucía in goal; María Cortés, María Flores and Yoli in defence; Farfán and Clo as fullbacks; Lorena, Tati and Buceta in midfield; and María Ruiz and Claudia upfront.

The team attempted to assimilate this tactical move in the opening stages in which there was not a great deal of fluidity in the game. However, little by little play started to heat up and the ball approached the domain of visiting goalkeeper Aco.

Arrival after arrival, MCFF came ever closer to a goal, with two headers from Claudia in 28’ and 30’. Minutes later, the visiting keeper made an error with the ball and narrowly scored an own goal. Clo, Farfán and an insightful Claudia generated options to open the scoring, yet the scoreboard remained 0-0 at half-time.

At the start of the second half, the rival defence managed to mitigate the Malaguista attempts, and Javi Ramos made some changes to keep up the pace. Clo in 58’ had the clearest chance of the game up to this point, but skied the ball after a great pass from the defence.

Shortly afterwards, the first blow came in 62’ with a goal from Patri (0-1). The Blue and Whites were quick to react and three minutes later Claudia nearly went level with a header, but the keeper put paid to her efforts. Half an hour in to the second half, Brenda increased Femarguín’s lead (0-2).

The Malaguistas didn’t give up and continued the quest for a goal, despite the extreme difficulty. Gabi, on two occasions, the first of which hit the crossbar and a Futu bicycle kick on the rebound, as well as a header from Estefanía, missed out on glory.

The result remained the same and the rival from the Canary Islands take the three points from Cártama with a 0-2 win. MCFF remain in the drop zone and next week are away to Valencia Fémeninas B.
