Sergio Pastor: “If it moves them, I have achieved my goal”
Sergio Pastor, a composer with a degree from the Conservatorio Superior de Música de Málaga, spoke to MCFTV on the occasion of the premiere of “Memory, Commitment, and Faith.”
Personal
“My beginnings were in the world of bands, and today I direct the Banda de Cornetas y Tambores de El Cautivo. I am focused on composing film and orchestral music.”
Fans
“I wanted to give a gift to the fans. They are always there, they are the driving force of the club. This is my way of contributing a little, and I was really eager to create this anthem for the Malaguista fans.”
Málaga, club and city
“It is an anthem for orchestra and choir, and it also features classical guitar as a nod to Málaga. In the lyrics, I wanted to capture a fusion of Málaga as a city, the club, the fans, and also a nod to the official anthem of ‘Málaga, la Bombonera’.”
Project
“I proposed this project at the Conservatory, and with the support of the club, we were able to bring it to fruition. The willingness of the auditorium, where the premiere will take place, makes me very happy. Thanks to the support of both the Conservatory and the club, they have given this anthem its soul.”
Fluid idea
“I didn’t take long to outline the general idea because it was something I had inside me and wanted to put on the score. The anthem, the music itself, was already within me, and it came out quite naturally.”
Composition
“This anthem is not meant to replace ‘Málaga, la Bombonera,’ which is sacred and untouchable. I wanted to make a contribution to the musical heritage, for the club and the fans, and express this Málaga sentiment. I hope they embrace it warmly and feel the same affection I put into composing it.”
Malaguista
“I’ve been following Málaga since I was a child. I came with my father and my brother, and I still come, it feels like home to me.”
Team
“I hope this good momentum continues and that this anthem adds to all these wonderful moments happening right now. I hope they enjoy it and embrace it warmly, that they feel it, and if it moves them, for me it would be like saying, ‘I have achieved my goal’.”
