Sekou, a powerhouse for upfront

The striker joins Málaga CF on loan with an option to buy from Real Valladolid CF for the 2021/22 season.

Sekou Gassama Cissokho (Granollers, 06/05/1995) has a long history in Spanish football. The forward, with a great physique and a specialist finisher in the area, trained within the youth ranks of FC Barcelona, CF Damm and UD Almería.

With Almería, at 18 years of age, he debuted in the bronze division during the 13/14 season. In 14/15 he played for the Real Valladolid and Rayo Vallecano reserve teams, and later gained experience with Bergantiños, Badalona and Sant Andreu before returning to Almería.

Sekou’s goal-scoring explosion arrived with Almería B, netting 15 goals in 17/18. The following season he was part of the Red and White first team, and scored three goals in four Copa del Rey games, one against Málaga at La Rosaleda in the second round (1-2, 11/09/2018).

After a brief spell with Valencia Mestalla, in 19/20 he scored nine goals with UD Almería and CF Fuenlabrada in LaLiga SmartBank. Coincidentally, Sekou scored again at La Rosaleda in Almería’s 0-1 win against MCF on league matchday 4.

Valladolid signed the striker in the 20/21 season and he was loaned out to Fuenlabrada (five goals in nine LaLiga SmartBank matches). The ‘Pucelano’ outfit recovered the footballer this summer and he was in action during the season opener in his team’s win against Zaragoza by 2-0 at Zorrilla.

A Senegalese U-20 international, Sekou Gassama arrives in Málaga with all the enthusiasm of scoring lots of goals with his great physical strength, and above all, giving his all. Welcome to the Malaguista Family!
