Lots of new faces with a Malagueño stamp

The Málaga CF women’s first team features many new signings, including the support of homegrown players who have moved up from the reserve team, to make up the 21/22 squad.

The new coach of Málaga Femenino 21/22 is José Antonio Martínez Puente, ‘Ayala’. Following several successful seasons with the Malaguista reserve team in the first team’s new category, Group 4 of the Primera Nacional, Ayala takes over from Javi Ramos in the dugout, as he moves to coach MCFF ‘B’ this season.

In addition, eight new players – six from Málaga – have arrived to reinforce the squad:

  • María Isabel García Gamero, ‘Teté’, attacking midfielder from Torremolinos, raised within the youth ranks and who brings experience.
  • Lorena Herrera de Miguel, midfielder who returns to the Club after playing in Marbella last season.
  • Elena Muñoz Hidalgo, left-back from Córdoba who arrives from La Solana.
  • Andrea Ríos Montiel, goalkeeper who trained in the Malaguista youth ranks, who comes from Almería.
  • Silvia Mérida Ramírez, Benalmádena-born central defender who arrives from Deportivo Alavés.
  • Sonia Ruiz Torralvo, forward from Granada who arrives from Granada CF.
  • Carmen Gómez Márquez, born in Ojén and part of the Blue and White youth ranks, a forward from Marbella.
  • Desireé Rodríguez Bertuchi, Malagueña striker who played for Torremolinos last season.

Moreover, moving up from the reserve team are midfielders, Lucía Nunes, Marta Arias and Carlota; forward, Claudia Muñoz; and moving between the first and second team, defender, Pastora.

Also, 11 players remain on the team from last season: goalkeeper, María Arrabal; defenders, Ruth, Encarni, Farfán, Marina, Olmedo and Yoli; midfielders, Clo, María Cortés and Tati; and forward, Futu.

Following training today at La Rosaleda, the girls have a day off tomorrow. They will return to training between Wednesday and Friday at Roma Luz, where home games will take place this season in the women’s bronze division. This Saturday the girls will be heading to Salamanca for the first match of the season on Sunday 5th September at 11:00 at the Vicente del Bosque.
