Kilometre 3: Málaga-Alcorcón

The first victory of the season and the first at home, José Alberto’s men claimed three points last Friday and are in eighth place in LaLiga SmartBank.

We look back at some of the highlights of #MálagaAlcorcón (1-0) from matchday 3 in our usual kilometre:

Escassi, Blue and White heart

When he arrived from Numancia, we knew his goal-scoring ability, even playing as a ‘stopper’ or central defender. Alberto Escassi, a captain on and off the pitch, scored the winning goal which he celebrated by kissing the Club shield. The club where he was trained and where he always dreamt of returning. His consistent performance deserves this prize. For courage…and heart,

MCF undefeated

Three matches without defeat to kick-off the season with three very different games. Against Mirandés the initial point didn’t feel like much considering the team’s merits, then in Ibiza the lads came back from 2-0 down to go level before the full-time whistle, whilst against Alcorcón the team claimed a well-deserved victory. Check out the stats, 180 minutes at Martiricos without conceding a goal.

Víctor, what a debut!

The right-back trained, debuted and played as if he’d been at Málaga CF all his life. His performance on the right wing, both in defence and attack, was simply spectacular. On numerous occasions the fans gave him a standing ovation for his effort and quality play. In terms of statistics, Víctor Gómez became player number 400 to wear the MCF jersey in an official match.

6.884 Malaguistas

There were a few more than during the first match against Mirandés, but the support and drive was the same, even more if possible. The Málaga fans once again showed how to push their team on to give them a boost against the rival. They never fail and are the lifeblood of La Rosaleda. Malaguistas who feel the colours and vibrate with every goal and every win. They are those who are there, those who want to be there and those who will always be there.
