Samu: “I want to convey to the team how thrilled I am to be back”

The re-incorporated Malaguista forward attended to the media in a press conference this morning: “For a player, the most important thing is to feel loved. The team is determined, we’re not going to give up”.

Samu García returned to the ‘Juan Cortés’ press room at La Rosaleda for the press conference of his presentation in his second time at the Club. The player was accompanied by Malaguista sports director, Mario Husillos, who had a few words of affection for him: “This is one of the beautiful days in the profession. Generally, when people who come back who are from the Club, people from Málaga, it gives us great pleasure, even more so if they have the professional and human qualities of Samu”.

Statements by Samuel García

Excited to be back

“I’d particularly like to thank Mario, Ben Barek, Paco (Martín Aguilar) and Antonio (Benítez), who have always been an immense support to me. I’d like to return this with a lot of hard work. I want to convey to the team how thrilled I am to be back and do all we can to save the team”.

Affection from Málaga

“Since I arrived, I’ve received nothing but affection, the people love me, which is greatly appreciated. Of course, I will return this with hard work and enthusiasm, we won’t give up, indeed the team has never stopped trying at any moment. I think in the last two games we’ve stood up to the rivals, so hopefully we can save the team, which is what we all want”.

Forbidden to give up

“I’ve come from another team where the situation is better than this, but don’t think that we feel like we’re drowning because of bad gameplay. Looking from the outside, I think the team deserves more points than it has. We are determined, enthusiastic, and although we know it’s a difficult situation, it’s not impossible. Whilst it’s still mathematically possible, we will never give up”.

Willingness to return

“I knew I’d come back, it’s logical, I’ve always wanted to return here. I didn’t know when, but I knew I would as it’s my home, as Mario rightly said. Of course, I’m delighted to be back, and I’m just as thrilled as I was on the first day”.

Regaining the feelings

“The best season I’ve ever had in all the years I’ve been in the First Division was here in Málaga. Indeed, perhaps because of my family and friends not being there, since then I haven’t been at the level I played at when I was here. Which is why I’m back, to try and regain those feelings, and hopefully we’ll save the team, which is my priority”.

Doing his bit

“I’ve not talked to the coach about whether I’ll play or not. I’m here to contribute to the team, he said he’ll select each player at a moment he sees fit. Every player feels important to the team, and the ones who go out and play will do well”.

Feeling loved, the most important thing

“The reception here at La Rosaleda for me was incredible. For a player, the most important thing is to feel loved, to feel significant. The team is determined, we’re not going to give up, that’s for certain. We had a chat and my teammates are extremely excited, they can’t wait to go to Las Palmas and bring home the three points. We know it’s a crucial match, and until the maths says otherwise, we’ll fight until the end”.
