Rondón: "It'll be a great atmosphere, and very special for me"

Venezuela-born Málaga striker, José Salomón Rondón, will defend the Blue and Whites colours in two friendly games in his home country, where he’s seen as a true hero. MCF TV caught up with Rondón on his arrival in Caracas.

(Tour) "I’m really happy to be back in my country, Venezuela, and I can’t wait for my people to learn a bit more about the team on an international level.  They’re important teams in Venezuela, and I hope we do well in these matches.”

(Recognition and warm welcome) "Footballers based here that play for their country are well received, and there are others who play for teams in other countries that are known for their hard work, and viewed by the people here in a positive way.”

(Barinas and Caracas) "We’re travelling to a wonderful city, and there are a lot of interesting things to see in Barinas.  Following that match, we’re playing in the capital, Caracas, which has absolutely everything.  If we have any spare time, I’d really to show my team mates around, though I’m not sure we’ll have a lot of time, as we’re not here for long.”

(Special matches) "I played professionally in Caracas for two years, and I visited numerous grounds.  However I’ve never been to La Carolina stadium, which is where we’re playing our first match.  This was built for the America Cup held in Venezuela, and its looks to be a beautiful stadium, showing how much the country has grown.  The Olympic, which is actually the University stadium, is where we’ll face Caracas, the best team in Venezuela, who’ve won the most League competitions.  It’ll be a great atmosphere there, and very special for me as I’m from Caracas, and to play against the team is amazing.”
