“I’m very calm about the work the team is doing. We’ve competed against teams from the top part of the table, and today we did so against the LaLiga leaders. We gave a little example of football, good touches and approaches”.

“We had our opportunities, we could have drawn, and even opened the scoring, but these things happen in football. The image the team gave was very good, we’re moving upwards, and this level of calm will remain in place for the next match”.

“The team performed very well. We stood up to the rival in midfield, which was necessary to avoid running so much and to enable us to stay close to the rival goal area. I think the game was pretty even, we played good football, defended well and had the possibility of bringing a point home”.

Second half

“I’m satisfied with the team’s work. They came out in the second half with the same dynamic, despite being 2-0 down. They wanted to go all out for the match, we advanced towards the area, we didn’t get stuck at the back and I hope the team continues on this path”.

There are no sweet defeats

“I don’t think there are any sweet defeats, particularly for me when the most important factor is going out to win. It makes no difference who the rival is, the team must get used to going out to win. We’re working on this mentality and I believe the squad was convinced victory was possible today. There are no sweet defeats, but I remain with the work of the team. I think this was one of the best matches in regards to gameplay, quality and peace of mind when in possession of the ball I’ve seen since becoming Málaga coach”.
