Roberto: “The team needs the first three points”

The Málaga CF goalkeeper held a press conference following Tuesday’s training: “Options exist. If we reach the last few matches at a reasonable distance, we could do it”.

First victory

“Of course, the matches are passing by, the margin is reducing and each time we have to win more of the games there are left to play. Beyond the eight points you referred to, I think the team needs to score the first three points, after a long time without doing so. I’m convinced that, if we can do it soon, it’s possible that the other points we need will follow suit”.

Future

“Sincerely speaking, the only scenario I want to see me in is in the First Division with Málaga. In fact, if we want to reverse this situation, this is the mentality all the players need. If we start to fall into the bad temptation of seeing ourselves in the Second Division, it’s likely to happen. My motivation and my mentality, each day, is to be here in this press room next season in the First Division, which is something I will maintain until the last match”.

FC Barcelona

“Right now, we’re trying to make very little distinction in regard to the rivals we’re facing. Obviously, to prepare for a match, you are very aware of your opponent. We’re playing against the leaders, who will be coming here aiming to strengthen their place at the top of the standings and increase the distance from their rivals. In our situation, the greatest benefit for us will be to focus on ourselves. We need to go back to the intensity we’ve shown in recent games, which in our position isn’t easy. Above all, we need to be intense, make a difficult match for them and have our options to win”.

Salvation

“Of course, I believe in salvation. There are options. The calendar we have is encouraging, but, clearly, we need to win. We speak 28 hours a day about our situation, amongst ourselves, with family and friends. I believe options exist. If we reach the last few matches at a reasonable distance, we could do it. I know it may sound like a cliché, the fact that we’ll try our best until the end, and people may think we’ve thrown in the towel, but that’s not the message and the conversations we have as a team. Truly, there is a feeling that we can achieve our goal”.
