The well-known goalkeeper has accumulated over 300 matches in his career, and arrives on loan from RCD Espanyol, with an option to buy at the end of 2017/18.
Roberto Jiménez (Fuenlabrada, Madrid, 10/02/1986) is an experienced goalkeeper both nationally and internationally, racking up over 300 games between Spain, Portugal and Greece during the 12 years of his professional career.
Career
A goalkeeper of 1’92 metres in height and weighing 94 kilos, he was formed in the lower categories of Club Atlético de Madrid, with whom he debuted in the First Division at 19 years of age, on 22nd December 2005. In the 2007/08 season he was loaned out to Gimnástic de Tarragona, where he completed a great season on an individual level. The following year he moved to Recreativo de Huelva, and a season later, was re-purchased by Atlético de Madrid. In the winter transfer window of 2009/10, he was loaned out to Real Zaragoza. At the end of the season be returned to the Madrid outfit.
Portugal and Greece
Roberto was transferred to SL Benfica, where he remained for a year and won a Copa de la Liga (2010/11). Following a season with the Portuguese side, he again returned to Real Zaragoza, this time on transfer. After two seasons with the side from Aragón, the keeper was re-purchased by Atlético de Madrid and loaned out to Olympiacos FC, the team that exercised the option to retain ownership. He stayed with the Greek outfit for three seasons (2013 to 2016), winning three Superliga titles and a Greek Cup.
Last season, 2016/17, he returned to LaLiga to join the ranks of RCD Espanyol.
