Pepe Mel named as new Málaga CF coach

The Madrid-born manager, with extensive experience in the elite of Spanish football, assumes the role of managing the Blue and White first team for the current season.

José Mel Pérez (28-2-1963, Madrid) is a renowned coach who has enjoyed a great career in the First and Second Division.

Since he started his career in professional football in the 00/01 campaign in charge of Real Murcia - in LaLiga SmartBank - he has managed teams during all seasons up to the present campaign.

CD Tenerife, Getafe CF, Deportivo Alavés, Polideportivo Ejido, Rayo Vallecano de Madrid, Real Betis Balompié, West Bromwich Albion, RC Deportivo de la Coruña and UD Las Palmas are the clubs where Pepe Mel has established a successful career. In fact, he has three promotions under his belt. One to the Second Division with Rayo Vallecano (07/08 season) and two to the top flight with Betis (10/11 and 14/15 seasons).

Pepe Mel will immediately take on the position of Blue and White coach and will head up his first training session this afternoon.
