Pellicer: “We have to be brave, daring and balanced”

The Málaga CF coach spoke to the media this Saturday at La Rosaleda. “We are focusing on ourselves, on our game, without any type of distraction,” he said.

The coach only thinks about his team, not about the results of other rivals: “Worry saps our energy. We have to focus on ourselves. This is key, the mentality that will make us improve on a physical and technical-tactical level. And that passion, the fans see it. Anything else steals our energy from us.”

Regarding Ramón's absence, “we had found the best Ramón during the team’s best moment,” he said. “He never had it easy, now everything was flowing and he was an important player on the team. This is the worst thing for a footballer, an injury, and it’s a challenge to think about recovery and next year to be a better Ramón,” he added, confirming that Luis Muñoz and Lago Junior “are at 100 percent” and “are two more warriors that we’re going to need for Monday.”

Regarding the referee for the upcoming match, Pellicer was clear: “When the arbitration body appoints José Antonio (López Toca), it’s because he’s one of the best in the category. His birthplace doesn’t matter to me, it’s about the professionalism and honesty of each one.”

As for Ramón's replacement, “on Wednesday I had an idea, and today I have another. We don't have Ramón's profile, and the one who can replace him gives us different situations. We’re thinking about the game plan, how it may play out, against an opponent who will give us a very rough game, who handles the second play well, where they’re one of the best in the division... We won’t decide until the last minute,” commented the Blue and White coach.

“Huesca is a team that has remained in a calm position all season. We have to look for victory to narrow the gap with the teams above, of which Huesca is one. They are going to play a long game for us, they know we are going to push up, they handle being dominated, waiting for an error and in sectors where they are stronger. We have to be brave, daring and balanced in the face of defeat, and have that emotional control. They’re going to take us to the limit,” he said about the next league opponent.

Finally, Pellicer stressed the need for the team to focus exclusively on itself. “We are focusing on ourselves, on our game, without any type of distraction. We’re not looking at what the rivals are doing or which referee we have. I don't want to think beyond that. We’ve been in a state of emergency for some time, in a time of urgency. We must be strong at our stadium, with our fans, they are encouraging us and transmitting that passion to be able to fight, and make an effort in each play as if it were the last. This is what we’re trying to convey in these matches,” he concluded.
