Pellicer: “This way we can achieve great things, but we have to stay calm”

The Málaga CF coach appeared before the media after the victory against Recreativo de Huelva: “The key is La Rosaleda. It was an important match for the rival and the standings, to get back on track and compete to the max,” he stated.

Job done

“They are a rival near the top of the table and we knew it would be difficult for us, but we had only lost at home against Castellón. We started off well, yet at the end of the first half they piled the pressure on. However, we rectified it at half-time and in the changes, and we finished well. The continuity was there, taking into account the rival and this point in the season. By engaging people and working like this we can achieve great things.”

Team with personality

“We have to look at ourselves, but it’s tough for everyone. The bottom teams win and we know each other better. We have to have continuity, not get upset in defeat, and put the situations into context. We have won 13, drawn six and lost five games. In terms of numbers, it’s not a bad season, but we have to give it continuity and stay calm. Let's see if this reengages us. We are already thinking about Alcoyano, another match context and where we will have to execute another plan. Hopefully all the players will gain self-esteem from the calm, it’s a game labelled a playoff. The best thing is that when we found that moment of weakness in the last 10 minutes of the first half, we knew how to recover and played the way we wanted in the second half. We should have scored a third goal.”

All matches are important

“Some games motivate you more than others, we have to value each one as a final. We want the ball after a loss, for the team to give everything and for us to do what we train to do. Congratulations to all the players, they felt comfortable, they knew how to rectify things and understood what the game needed. David Larrubia created situations for us to sink the Recre defence, and also so did bringing on Jokin. Wearing the Málaga shirt is enough motivation and even more so with the people behind us.”

Being strong at home is crucial
