Press conference

Pellicer: “This is the key moment and we’re ready to fight for everything”

The Málaga CF coach held a press conference after the victory against CF Intercity at La Rosaleda. “Don't let this honeymoon with La Rosaleda end, we need to win and keep a clean sheet. The key is the union,” he said.

Speedy recovery for Dioni

“They’ve told us he’s fine, they are going to have to do a test, but he is conscious. It was a big scare for everyone, we wish him a speedy recovery. He’s Malagueño, his family were watching the game and his wife is in a state. Behind the professionals there are people and families.”

Good match by the team

“I disagree about playing badly, we missed the goal. I have the feeling that what we do is not valued, we had many opportunities, but didn’t manage to get ahead before. In the last five minutes Alfonso saved one. We had David Larrubia, Dioni and Roberto unmarked against the goalkeeper. The team played a good game against one of the most powerful squads in the group. What happened with Dioni knocked us off balance a bit, after the goal it was difficult for us to have clarity with the ball. If we had been accurate in front of the goal you would leave with a different impression and we’d have been two or three up. We played a better offensive game than against Ibiza, but since the rival's name is Intercity we think we played poorly.”

Many chances to increase the difference

“We have to remain above the referee and rival decisions. We were better than Intercity, although they were better in the last 10 minutes. We have to continue improving. The rival is having a great season, they worked very hard and we were able to get ahead on the scoreboard. If we score in the first half, the context of the game changes. We have to stay on the sidelines and be better than referee decisions and rivals.”

Ready for the key moment

“Now we’re heading into the moment of truth with 10 games remaining. If they had told us at the beginning of the season with the ERE and a squad in a situation of being 12 points from sixth and five from first, we would never have believed it. Now it's time to give that extra push, we are in a good moment. The group is prepared and there is no need to fall. We must continue taking steps forward, working with great humility. This is the key moment and we’re ready to fight for everything. Anything can happen, it's going to be difficult at the top, it's hard to win and now even more so.”

La Rosaleda responds

Don't let this honeymoon with La Rosaleda end, we need to win and keep a clean sheet. The key is the union. If the fans see the team suffers and these victories are valued, more will be done over time.”
