Pellicer: “This is a year of survival and resistance”

The Málaga CF manager held a press conference after #GranadaMálaga. “Playing like today we’re going to be close to fighting until the last day,” he stated.

The coach said the 1-0 loss was “unfair. During the first few minutes it was like an avalanche, with Granada playing at home. And in the end, in that finishing zone, we lacked that last pass,” he said. “It's a hard day, but no one gets down here. This is a year of survival and resistance. Playing like today we’re going to be close to fighting until the last day,” he continued.

Regarding Genaro losing the ball in the local goal, “he’s the one suffering the most, yet we’re all in the same boat. When we finish with 11 (players) we are very close to winning or drawing, and we are a competitive team. On this path, full of obstacles, we have no choice but to keep going and be prepared for the upcoming final.”

“We have to search for luck but believe more in ourselves than in luck. We must keep competing and keep insisting,” continued Pellicer, who believes that “the incentives must be found to root out our talent. And of course, we need to make fewer mistakes. The team was close to a good result today.”

Pellicer recognises the mistakes, but also sees positives in the defeat: “You want to highlight the individual error, but this is a collective one. I’m here to take on as much criticism as possible. We’ll analyse everything from the heart, and I think that today we did more positive things. From above you can see a hard-working team.”

At the end of the press conference, he mentioned the loyal Malaguista fans. “We can't say anything to the fans. They’ve had some very difficult years. We are the ones who have to give to them. We are indebted to them for the sacrifices they make (…) The fans don’t want speeches, the fans want facts. Thank you,” he concluded in reference to the supporters who travelled to Granada.
