“This Saturday's game is a final. The week has gone very well, I see the lads prepared, motivated, excited... this is a match of great importance, a match with which to experience something unique, La Rosaleda is going to be packed out. We’re prepared, with a very clear idea of how we have to approach the match. We already have a sample of this first fight that we had in Balaídos that, except for the corner play, I think the team reacted very well because they knew how to stay calm during moments of maximum tension.”
Going all out for the game
“After the game in Vigo we were able to do a complete analysis both individually and by lines and an analysis of other data that we must know how to interpret, and that tells us that the team was very good. They will try to adjust certain things, we will do it too. The match we have planned has to be a match with a brave approach and we just have to really go for it, doing the same as we did in Balaídos, but touching on small details that would have brought us a better result. If we hadn’t been able to react, we would have had a problem and in that aspect I’m very calm.”
This week’s training
“At this point in the season practically everyone is on holiday except for very few teams. I was telling the boys the other day, we have been training for 11 months and now what we have left we have to face with great enthusiasm, this is something unique that we can experience, a historic opportunity in front of our fans. The work of an entire season depends on one match, but this is high-level sport and we have to be prepared and take care of the details.”
Advantage in the standings
“We have to be prepared for everything, but our idea is to go for the game. We cannot speculate. We have the proof from playing there. The team started well, we conceded a goal and knew how to stay calm. We knew how to correct the mistakes we were making. In front of our people, every throw-in, every free kick, every corner has to be like a penalty and that is what we have to generate. I remember the goal we scored against Atlético de Madrid here and that is the spirit we must have and that is what we have to convey to our fans.”
