Pellicer: “These results are cruel”

The Malaguista coach held a press conference following the match against CD Leganés: “We want to take the final team photo after a victory”.

Effort without reward

“I think the result is tremendously cruel considering the effort the team is making. It doesn’t tally with the hard work being undertaken. We lack resources, the lads are reaching the limit. Our first half was perfect, in the second half the team pushed harder, which was the logical thing to do. We finished with two ‘juvenil’ players on the pitch, homegrown players who were in action against CD El Palo yesterday. The work carried out must be highly valued. The results are cruel because they don’t reflect the effort of the players, they dignify the profession”.

Circumstances that have accompanied the entire season

“There is a lot that is not known on the outside, which makes it far more valued. There are players with injury discomfort, we came here with 14 professional players. These are the circumstances we’ve had throughout the season. Hopefully this situation will not continue next season. In other circumstances I think we’d be fighting to be in the top seven. In the last match, even if there’s nothing at stake, we want to take the final team photo after a victory and leave with a good taste in the mouth, having achieved the objective of exceeding 50 points”.

The MCF Academy has a future

“Within our Academy there’s a great deal of talent. The best process for a homegrown player is to be part of a healthy group, which is what we’ve had this year. All the players have understood that training is what leads us to compete like this. The MCF Academy is the Club’s best heritage. A year and a half ago players with an ERE had to leave, now there is heritage. We have to stay calm, everyone has to move at their own pace. The best example is Juande, he’s a veteran of the category. He has worked quietly and grown immensely”.
