Pellicer: “We did enough to earn points”

The Malaguista coach spoke at the press conference after the 1-0 defeat at El Alcoraz. “It was a very even match, we came very close,” he told the media.

Match review

“A lot of frustration. It was a very even match, with two very different halves. In the first half we had Lobete’s chance, but we didn’t play the way we wanted. In the second half we had more control of the game, the 0-1 felt closer, but in the end, it seems like this ground is cursed for us. We did enough to earn at least a point. We need to improve on the ‘other side of football,’ the aspects of experience, and also work on technical and tactical details.”

SD Huesca

“Yes, I expected a team that would press intensely. With that play between the lines, Dani’s strikes for second balls, plus Portillo and their set-piece situations, which we defended very well, it was a very even match. We came very close, but it’s a result to forget, and we’re aware that we need to improve. These are stepping stones as we look upward.”

Attitude and frustration

“I’m happy with the lads’ attitude, but we have to manage those small details that other teams execute very well. That last play really makes you angry.”

“I told them 10 minutes to feel sorry for ourselves, but from now on, we need to channel this frustration to win at home against Cádiz. Especially for all the fans who came and drove here today. They didn’t deserve this defeat, there’s a lot of anger and pain, but we have to get back up and focus that energy starting on Tuesday.”

El Alcoraz and the youth factor

“Statistics exist for a reason. Today, yes, we were closer, even if we weren’t at our best, against an opponent that played a great game. We need to fine-tune our game control, patience, and the experience to slow the game down… We’ve suffered a bit from inexperience because we are a young team.”
