Pellicer: “This victory is for Fernando Puche”

The Malaguista coach held a press conference following the win against SD Huesca. “I'm pleased with the three points and how we achieved them,” he said.

Rest in peace, president

“I offer my condolences to president Puche's family. I was fortunate to have him as president and to give him that affection. My deepest condolences to the entire family, and this victory is for him.”

Great team game

“I'm very happy with the three points and how we achieved them. The first half was phenomenal due to the players' performance. This is all thanks to the players; they were spectacular against a very tough opponent. As a coach, I'm extremely pleased with that level of play. In the second half, the team managed the game's pace well and maintained a very high level. Congratulations to the players for their performance, I loved it.”

A long road

“We’ve been suffering for a while, we have a master’s degree in suffering and resilience. In the first half, we were more precise and created scoring opportunities. With nine points, and 41 more to go, it boosts our confidence. We hope to keep moving forward. This is a football team and a family.”

Job well done

“I’m most pleased with the first half; we were the superior side. There was a tremendous physical effort. In the second half, they started pressing more, so we needed to be more precise with our passes. Their danger mostly stemmed from set pieces. They kept pushing us, and we lacked a bit of ball control and composure. However, in the last 10 minutes, the team played the way we wanted. It’s a mix of knowing how to suffer and attacking opponents who press and look for mistakes to counter quickly.”

Haitam’s substitution

“He’s been out for a long time, but he's very young. I've had that injury myself, and these things happen. The match puts you under a lot of tension, and such things can occur. Now, it's about recovering and having everyone support him.”
