Pellegrini: “There´s going to be a party here on Monday”

Málaga CF’s Manager, Manuel Pellegrini, spoke to the media on Saturday in La Rosaleda’s press room once the team’s training session had finished..

Pellegrini’s statements

(Absentees). “Both Rubén and Baptista will not be available this weekend as they need to totally recuperate and we hope to have them back for the next match.”

(Desire to compete). It’s more than a week, it’s been fifteen days and half the time we’ve not had the eight internationals. Now we’re going to pick up the momentum of continually competing which is what we need.  The friendlies don’t have the same level of focus.  The team has worked very hard and I hope we’ll be able to get a good result against Granada.  Anxious?  Yes, very focused in this regard, but we have to keep working hard as teams aren’t put together overnight.”

(Granada) “There are many teams with new players and we have to see how they work out.  We have to go out to get three points against Granada from the outset.  Granada – Betis? A game without much offensive play, where Betis deserved a little more.  On Monday we’ll see a different Granada, they’ve got four or five new players and so there’s no point going over the previous game.  It’s a team that tries hard, that has some quick players and goal scorers like Uche and Geijo.  We’ve got to be very intense in defense and offense, and aggressive with the ball to cause them damage.”

(Fans) “There going to be a party here on Monday, the stadium will be full for sure, everyone’s very keen to see the group and the new players who’ve arrived, and hopefully we can respond with a triumph and a good match.  Hopefully we can turn all these anxieties and expectation into a reality on the pitch.”

(Radios) “It’s difficult to respond to something you don’t know much about.  Radio has been a part of football for a long time, but I understand that there different interests and it’s a subject for the board.  I don’t have anything else to say on the matter.”
