Pablo debuts with under-21s and Horta shines with Portugal

Pablo Fornals and Ricardo Horta played and won with Spain’s under-21s and Portugal’s Olympic team respectively, on Monday 28th March. Both put on a remarkable performance individually.

Horta, an assist and a goal

The Blue and Whites’ winger left the bench and made the most of the 45 minutes he played in the second half of Portugal’s 4-0 win against Mexico – the under-23s preparation match ahead of the Olympics in Rio, which took place in Angra do Heroísmo (Azores).  Portugal were far superior over the reigning champions, reaching half-time with a two-goal advantage thanks to Jota and Neves.  The second half saw another two goals, with Horta taking centre stageThe 3-0 was the work of Gelson with a pass from the Malaguista, which in turn culminated in a goal following a great pass to lead Portugal to victory.

Pablo, debut and in starting-11

The Castellón midfielder made his debut with Spain’s under-21s, wearing the number ‘8’ shirt and playing at a good level for 90 minutes in the international friendly held in Murcia between Spain and Norway.  The 1-0 result for Albert Celades’ team followed a goal in the first half by Deulofeu, with participation from Pablo, who cleared a ball in his own field which converted into an assist for the Catalán striker, which he executed brilliantly to give victory to Spain.
