No Malaguista presence in 1-1 draw between Mexico and Venezuela

‘Memo’ Ochoa, along with Rosales, Juanpi and Mikel Villanueva watched the match from the bench. Mexico are group winners.

The four Málaga players taking part in the Copa America: Ochoa, Rosales, Juanpi and Villanueva, weren’t part of the last Group C match, held in the early hours of this morning between Mexico and Venezuela.  The game ended in a 1-1 draw, allowing Mexico to end as group winners.

The Blue and Whites’ goalkeeper, who was in the starting line-up in the last match with his country against Jamaica, watched this game from the bench.  Rosales, a regular in the ‘Vinotinto’ starting-11 was also not in action as a precaution, following the blow to his left ankle in the match against Uruguay.  Juanpi and Villanueva also watched from the bench.

Both teams have already qualified to the quarter-finals of the Copa America Centenario.  Mexico will face the second-placed team in Group D (Sunday 19th, 4 a.m.), whilst Venezuela will come up against Peru in the next round (Saturday 18th, 2 a.m.)

Málaga striker, Duje Cop wasn’t part of the Croatia line-up for the first group stage match of the Euro 2016 following suspension, as he was sent off in the last qualifying match.  Croatia defeated Turkey by 1-0, with a goal from Luka Modric.
