Wins for Niño and Aaron Ochoa in their international call-ups

The forward and the attacking midfielder played and won yesterday with Spain and Ireland, in the Under-21 category, in qualification matches for the upcoming European Championship of national teams.

Adrián Niño came on in the final minutes of the Spain-Kosovo match, which ended in a 2-0 victory for Spain, with goals from Real Madrid’s Gonzalo and Real Betis player Pablo García. The number ‘9’ from Rota also featured in the closing stages of last Friday’s match in Cyprus, where Spain won 0-7, scoring the sixth goal with his usual first-touch finishing ability.

After seven matches, Spain leads Group A of the Under-21 European Championship qualifiers with a perfect record of 21 points. Finland, with 16 points, sits in second place.

Ochoa, meanwhile, after not playing any minutes last Thursday in the Ireland-Moldova match (1-1), made his debut for his country’s Under-21 team as a starter, playing 67 minutes wearing the number 10 shirt in a 0-1 victory in Kazakhstan.

The Irish side has collected 11 points from 7 matches in Group D, which is led by England with 19 points, followed by Slovakia with 16, and Ireland itself in third place.
