Funes: “The team managed to stay in the game and earn a point”
Málaga CF’s coach spoke to the media after the away draw against FC Andorra. “I want to thank the fans. In Holy Week and in bad weather, seeing so many people here supporting us is truly a privilege,” he said.
Match analysis
“It was a very tough match for us, with very challenging conditions. We’re not used to environments like today’s, with so much cold and rain. Even so, the players gave everything, and their effort was admirable.”
“Perhaps that break in the first half affected us, we came in a bit disconnected and struggled to regain our rhythm. Even so, after their goals, we probably had our best minutes of the match.”
“What I’ll take away is the team’s response: even though they equalised and then went ahead, we managed to stay in the game and earn a point. We know how difficult it is to get points away from home, so now we keep moving forward.”
Tough rival
“A six-goal match. I think we have to look at it from a positive perspective: earning points away from home is always difficult. We can’t focus on the 0-2, because matches have to be played until the end, regardless of the score.”
“Perhaps the toughest moment was at the start of the second half, when we were outplayed. These are situations we also need to learn to manage. We knew they were the team with the most possession in the league, and it’s not easy to take the ball from them.”
Starting-11
“We made our decisions thinking about today’s match, fielding the players who were in the best condition. The other day in Leganés, we made a huge effort, some players needed rest, and it’s important to take care of the squad’s health.”
“We have very demanding fixtures ahead, and it’s key that everyone is available. Additionally, the players who came in performed very well, delivering a solid first half. We chose those who were in the best shape to compete today.”
Grateful to the fans
“The fans were, once again, at an incredible level. But today’s support is even more valuable: in the middle of Málaga’s Holy Week, with bad weather forecasts and a difficult trip, seeing so many people here supporting us is truly a privilege.”
“For us, it’s an indescribable boost, something very few teams can say they have. All we can do is thank them and acknowledge everyone who was here. It’s a shame we couldn’t give them the three points.”
