Nelson Monte: “It's a well-deserved victory”

The Málaga centre-back spoke to the press in the ‘Juan Cortés’ room after the team’s victory at La Rosaleda. “We are closer to our goal,” he commented.

Well-deserved win

“We were coming off a streak of draws, without a win, and today we played well, earning a deserved victory with the support of the fans, as always.”

Ample squad

“I don’t feel indispensable. The coach trusts in daily work. I had to rest against Oviedo, and now I’ve played two matches in a row. The competition is intense; I can’t slow down, and I’m here to give my best version.”

Good work in defence

“More than 50% of the goals conceded came from crosses. We’ve done very well inside the box, staying closer to the player with the ball to prevent easy crosses. This was our best defensive performance. It’s the fifth or sixth match with a clean sheet, which is important because it brings us closer to winning.”

Closer to the objective

“What makes me happiest is that we have 17 points and are closer to the 50 we have set as our goal. Now we need to rest; the Cup match is just around the corner, and Málaga have the responsibility to go for that match. Then we’ll think about Levante.”

Cup game

“The Cup is a competition we enjoy, and Málaga have the responsibility to go out and compete. We’re not holding back, we know the club we represent, and we’ll go on Thursday to win the match.”
