Narrow defeat in Melilla (1-0)

No points for Málaga CF at the Álvarez Claro on Primera Federación matchday 23. A goal from Siddiki in 72' sealed the win for the locals.

Málaga CF headed to the Álvarez Claro to face UD Melilla this Sunday 11th February on Primera Federación matchday 23. Kicking off at 12:00, around 4,000 people were in attendance, with over a hundred being Malaguista fans.

Pellicer’s starating-11 consisted of: A. Herrero; Jokin, Nelson, Juande, Víctor; Genaro, Manu Molina, David Ferreiro, Dani Sánchez, Dani Lorenzo; and Roberto.

The Blue and Whites, wearing yellow and lime on this occasion, controlled possession and took the initiative from the outset. The visitors made numerous approaches to the rival area, with several combinative plays.

In the 11th minute of play, Roberto was brought down by an opponent inside the area, but the referee didn’t award a penalty, stating that the contact was insufficient for the maximum penalty.

Juande almost made it 0-1 in the 29th minute. Víctor García served an excellent cross from the left wing that was finished off by the central defender who was incorporated into the attack. The number ‘5’ launched a left-footer that the rival keeper managed to clear for a corner.

However, despite MCF’s insistence, the scoreboard remained at 0-0 after 45 minutes.

In the second half the local team sought to escape Malaguista control and increase their presence in the rival half,

Alfonso Herrero managed to break up a one-on-one in the 59th minute. Local player Sergio Pérez escaped from midfield alone and stood in front of the goalkeeper, but the Malaguista number ‘1’ guessed the attacker's intention and prevented the goal.

After several exchanges of opportunities, the home side managed to take the lead in the 72nd minute from a set piece. Siddiki finished off a free kick served from the right by Víctor Murillo (1-0).

Sergio Pellicer, who had brought on Kevin Medina at half-time and Dioni and David Larrubia after the hour mark, brought on Javier Avilés and Juan Hernández on the pitch.

In the last stage of play there was no continuity in the game and at the end of the 90+7 added time the result was 1-0.

Málaga CF have 42 points in Primera Federación Group 2, with the next match taking place on Sunday 18th February at 12:00 at La Rosaleda, against Recreativo de Huelva.
