Narrow defeat for Femenino against Granada in the semi-finals of the Copa Andalucía (1-0)

Nati Gutiérrez’s girls stayed at the door of the regional tournament final in a close match decided by a goal from Granada’s Noe.

The second semi-final of the Copa de Andalucía Femenina held at Los Manantiales was incredibly close between Málaga CF and a Granada CF full of many former Malaguistas, from players Raquel García, Pamela and Postigo to coach José Herrera. In the first semi-final, Real Betís defeated Córdoba CF (2-1).

Both sides put on an intense performance from the outset, without conceding any clear opportunities throughout the first half. The approaches stemmed from second plays after lateral free kicks. There were only a couple of shots from rival Raquel Morcillo in the first 45 minutes, as well as an attempt from Edna in 36’ following a Candela cross.

In the second half Granada took territorial control and went all out on the attack. This led to the only goal of the game, a header from Noe in minute 65 from a Laura Pérez cross from the right. Natalia came close to an equaliser in 74’ but crossed too far with her left foot.

Málaga CF Femenino ends its participation in the Copa de Andalucía 2020 following a big win against Cádiz (10-0) and with the girls giving their all against Granada, who they’ll face in Grupo Sur of the Liga Reto Iberdrola.
