Nacho: “We went for the match at all times”

The Malaguista second coach held a press conference in the Ipurua press room after #EibarMálaga. “The difference in points in the standings was not reflected in the game on the pitch; it’s disappointing not to come away with at least a draw,” he indicated

Málaga CF assistant coach, Nacho Pérez Santamaría, who led the team for the second match today due to the suspension of Pepe Mel, spoke to the media in the Ipurua press room after #EibarMálaga.

“Except for the first few minutes during which we didn’t enter the game well, against the top team in the standings at their home ground, the rest of the game was highly competitive.” This was Nacho's first assessment of the match. He continued: “In the first half we had two very clear chances and in other circumstances we would have gone level or taken the lead on the scoreboard. The second half was more even, more one on one, both teams had chances.”

He concluded his first answer by saying: “We’re leaving here in a bad way as, after going level in the final minutes, its hurts us a lot that the goal stemmed from the last corner, and we didn’t manage to get at least a draw.”

The Malaguista second coach highlighted the team’s ambition: “We went for the match at all times, we were immersed in play and the difference in points in the standings was not reflected in the game on the pitch.”

This Sunday afternoon, Lago Junior and Appiah made their Malaguista debut: “Lago Junior did well, he went for the ball and tried to give us depth and one-on-one situations. When he settles a little more into the team, he’s going to contribute a lot. Appiah, despite having been around for a short time, showed good individual action on the wing, giving flashes of wanting the ball, helping and showing what he can do. That’s what we need now, people who come to bring something to the team. The evaluation of both players is very positive.”

Finally, Nacho is optimistic about the contribution of the new signings for the final stretch of the season: “We hope that with the arrival of these players and the alternatives we have, as well as generating good play and scoring chances, the results will go our way, which is what we’re missing at the moment.”
