Burgos: “It motivates me to see people wanting to triumph”

The Malaguista player, who used to play for Eibar and who turned 31 this week, appeared in the mixed zone after #EibarMálaga. “We’re annoyed but have no regrets. On Saturday, against Burgos at our stadium, we need to win,” he said.

Esteban Burgos spoke to MCFTV in the mixed zone at Ipurua just after the match against SD Eibar.

In his first analysis he stated: “They controlled the ball in the first half, but didn't reach us with too much depth. There were several mismatches, but the first goal arose from our mistake. It’s a shame we had to fight until the end, the team scored the goal, but the result didn’t go our way. We leave empty-handed from a situation where we had to win. We didn’t go there for a draw.”

Despite trailing on the scoreboard, the defender saw the team “well, we showed signs of character and went for the game. We had all the clear opportunities. One from Chavarría, one from N'Diaye, the one from Lago Junior, they disallowed a goal for being a millimetre offside. We’re annoyed but have no regrets and must carry on. On Saturday, against Burgos at our stadium, we need to win,” he added.

He also referred to the debut of Lago Junior and Appiah: “I think they did well, we’re delighted they’re here. They’re immersed in the group dynamic, and they played today as we need everyone. We know they’re going to bring a lot to the team.”

During his last answer he talked about the current mood in the dressing room: “The match ended, however nobody’s upset or down, we have no time for that. It motivates me to see people wanting to triumph.”
