The Juvenil DH coach spoke to the Club media before departing for Bilbao: “We can’t rest on our laurels, they’re undefeated at home”.
The Malaguista squad left La Rosaleda this Thursday to cross the Iberian Peninsula in search of a place in the Copa de Campeones semi-final. The Blue and Whites got on board the official MCF bus raring to go, but aware of the immense challenge ahead of them…overcoming one of the most imposing youth teams in Spain, Athletic Club de Bilbao.
Full of enthusiasm
“We’re bursting with enthusiasm. We can’t wait to get there and play this match at such an impressive ground as Lezama. We’ll try our best to play a good game and get through to the next round”.
Precaution
“We can’t rest on our laurels, we’ve got a good advantage, but we can’t rely on it. They haven’t lost this season, and in many matches they’ve secured big wins. At home they have a great deal of confidence, but we’ll try and break their unbeaten record”.
Two tournaments in one
“I’m really excited about this format. As there’s no Copa del Rey, being able to play two legs is good for us to be able to measure ourselves against clubs like Athletic. Their youth team has always performed well, and it’ll help us to know the level we’re at. Subsequently, the format has changed to Final Four, at a single venue, and that will help us if this year we compete in the two competitions”.
