Murillo: “This is my place; I feel very happy here”
The Blue and White defender, recently renewed until 2029, spoke to the media at a press conference this afternoon. “I’m very proud to have been here so long, in June it will be 10 years, and hopefully many more to come,” he said.
Sporting director Loren Juarros accompanied Murillo at his press conference. “Congratulations to Diego for what he has earned, and thank you for your commitment to Málaga. He arrived as a teenage boy and now he’s a young man with a lot of potential ahead of him. Thanks to your hard work, commitment, and patience. And now, all together, let’s see if we can take Málaga where it belongs,” he said.
“These contract renewals bring strength, being able to convince these players that Málaga is a great place to play professionally, and that their commitment can take the club to the top. It’s about creating this sense of belonging. We must take care of it and continue to nurture it; it’s the cornerstone of the project. We want to keep improving and developing players who have the opportunity to prove themselves here. What has been achieved is important,” the Burgos-born director stated.

Pride
“I feel very happy now that I’ve achieved that continuity, and because of the team’s work this season. I’m very proud to have been here for so many years, in June 2026 it will be 10 years, and for my family and me, it’s a source of pride. Hopefully there will be many more to come.”
Example
“Now it’s my turn, other teammates are in the position I used to be in. It’s a source of pride for me to now be an example for the younger players. And to stay happy, no matter what happens. I often tell younger teammates to stay calm and be patient.”
Homegrown player renewals
“Loren is making these renewals possible and making it easy for us to stay at home.”
“Everything helps. This is my place, where I can grow. There’s nowhere better for my partner or my family. It’s the right place.”
Cádiz
“We’re full of excitement, which has been building for some time. Every day we’re eager to train, to show what we can do, and our focus is on this weekend, to get points in Cádiz and continue being a happy team, which we have been.”
Mentality
“Mindset is one of my strengths. It comes naturally from life experience. I came here young, separated from my family at 15 or 16, and being with teammates like Ramón in the residence has helped me build mental strength and keep moving forward.”
