Muñiz: “We were serious, competitive and focused”

Málaga CF coach, Juan Ramón López Muñiz reviews the victory against Real Zaragoza in the post-match press conference: “We need to follow this line”.

#RealZaragozaMálaga

“We knew we were facing a rival who was on an upward trajectory and who has progressed a great deal in recent weeks, both in terms of gameplay and results. We also knew that in the first matches of the competition they’d played very well and there was talk of a team with aspirations to move up. Over the past few matches they’ve returned to that path. We came to a difficult ground against a great rival with fans who pile the pressure on. We were serious, competitive and focused, knowing how to restrain Zaragoza’s inside game for many minutes. We’re delighted we’ve scored three points against such a good team. It was a very complete match again and shows that when you want to win in this category you have to suffer and make sacrifices”.

Competitive

“We want the team to be alive and competitive. To maintain a good line of work and for everyone to be involved, so that everyone is seen as important. We all need to be important over a period of 42 matches. We cannot compete with a minimal number of players. As they train and work well, the more people involved the better and more profitable for the Club”.

Consistency

“We have to be prepared for tough, difficult and even games. We’ll try to maintain a consistent line over the 42 matches. With strength, ability to fight, commitment, good gameplay and finishing well, we’ve dominated the areas. We need to follow this line. We’re well-placed. It’s important we remain competitive and sacrifice ourselves as it if were the last game”.
